About Fairytales and Lullabies

As you all know, I am having a new album out before September. I just listened through all 12 + one bonus songs, thinking about what I have composed the last 7 month, since my last release Gardenia. "Swimming without webbed toes" were my debut and an escape from haunting ghost and hurting memories. Gardenia were an invitation for you to enter softer, brighter landscapes in me, early daybreak's and a hopeful mind. Upcoming album; Fairytales and Lullabyes - sounds to me as a bridge; walking from past to present, a very gentle touch of strings, acoustic guitars and odd sounds but at the same time filled with more lust, life, spirit and energy. You'll find some big folklore/rock/symphonic ballads in it, but also fast and jumpy pop/rock/electro songs and a couple of new, hopefully suggestive pop tracks, a bit like "Guilty" on my very first album, but more acoustic. Oh, there's one more difference, I actually play most of the guitars on this album, and you'll find both live drums, rhythm instruments and a Fender Jazz bass from 69. Lyrics embraces emotions, topics and things I care for as usually, some songs will still be a nail in the eye of people out there and I hope I will leave some thoughts in your heads. Politics, simple hello's and goodbyes and...off cause, passion. Love. Sex. Frustration, oh you know. The whole scale.

I also release one of my first written songs ever, from 2001, same period as "Ghost" from "SWWT". It is named "Quietly Crucified" and if you knew me in my past, you might have heard me sing it with an acoustic guitar in some dark corner. Some words just take time to come through. Today I find myself where my last album Gardenia ended: at the rainbows end. So.

Thanks for loving me. Inspiring me. Waiting for me. For letting me love you. My way.

I wouldn't be here, if life hadn't brought you all in my way.

I'm at Peace. Peace out =)

Sol Skugga in Dark Spy and Somojo Magazine!

I am featured with an article in the new issue of Darkspy this month, and also having "Until now" on the following cd-compilation. It is a great mag, so go check it out and order! Oh, I just ordered 3 copies, so if you want one email me and we can arrange for it in some way =)

Read the interview here

But it doesn't end here. As you might have noticed I am a hugh fan of www.somojo.net, and they are a fan of me too as it seems (go to "music news" to the left and check out the latest charts). I am mentioned a couple of times in their printed magazine, as they are speaking to my US label Cauldron Soundwerx, and I hope to get in there with a full interview once my new album is out!

Press clippings

"This female musician has an incredible international appeal that is downright contagious." - Skopemag

"The tracks may do well on the pop tracks, but there is something much more deep and meaningful to the tracks on “Swimming Without Webbed Toes”" - Neufutur

"Swimming Without Webbed Toes is an album that is a must-add to one's music collection to totally experience Skugga's compositions and talents on all levels, as well as watch out for her follow-up work" - Indie music stop

"Skugga's songwriting achieves a lyrical balance that comes across as Euro-pragmatism—a blend of youthful naiveté and cutting brutality"
"She has an impressive vocal range..."- caughtinthecarousel

"Overall it feels beautifully dark with Sol’s classical voice pouring like a clear trickle through the mellow ambience, whether it’s a folk-inspired piece or a more dense goth-inspired music. The electronica forms the base of the music, but a great interplay with foremost brilliant guitars and violins creates nice contrasts." - Meadow music

"This girl has what it takes." - Ravenheart music
